Preparing Your Wedding Party For A Group Dance

A choreographed dance that includes your entire wedding party is a great way to kick off your reception. It creates a fun atmosphere that will surprise your guests and get them excited for the celebration ahead.

The routines are typically upbeat with a fast paced and fun song choice. We’ve seen groups dance to music like “I Gotta Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas, “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond, “You Shook Me All Night Long” by AC/DC and “Celebration” by Kool & The Gang. These songs work well because they’re musical hits that everyone knows and loves!

However, choosing the music is the easy part! The biggest obstacle is getting everyone together to learn and master the routine. Especially, if members of the party don’t live nearby.

If you have bridesmaids/groomsmen who can’t make it to Allston, MA then we recommend they find a dance studio that’s close to them. We’ll happily send a video of the choreography to their studio and by the time your wedding rolls around, everyone will be on the same page!

You’re probably wondering how long it takes to be wedding day ready. The answer to that depends on how involved each participant is in the performance. If the members of your wedding party are simply backup dancers then three to five sessions will do the trick! However, if your attendants have a lot of choreography to learn, then you’re looking at ten to fifteen lessons before everyone is ready to perform.

In the end, your group dance should be relaxed and fun! However, to get there you and your party have to practice, practice, practice!
