Serena Shea is a classically trained contemporary dance champion. Serena is a powerful soloist winning coveted titles and first overall high scores at numerous competitions including Starpower Nationals at Mohegan Sun Casino, Showstoppers Nationals at Foxwoods Casino, World Class Talent and International Dance Challenge. In addition to being a two time Youth American Grand Prix Winner, Dance Spirit Magazine named Serena Shea a Future Star for her strong technical and performance skills. As a Company member, Serena has been the featured lead for many undefeated competition teams and has performed in many showcases, recitals and ballets including Swan Lake, Don Quixote and the Great Russian Ballet’s Nutcracker at the Orpheum Theater. Serena spent much of her young life studying multiple dance styles with Lisa Kaplan Barbash and currently is privileged to be attending Koltun Ballet Boston’s prestigious pre-professional ballet training program with ballet masters, Alexandra Koltun and Alex Lapshin. Serena has also worked as an assistant with So You Think You Can Dance alums Ade Chike Torbert, Alex Wong, Amelia Lowe and Eleanor Scott at the Excel in Motion Dance Convention and at TDS Dance Company teaching lyrical, contemporary, jazz and ballet. She is the recipient of multiple dance scholarships and special national invitations including PowerPak, Hollywood Summer Tour, NYC Dream Dance, World Dance Pageant and has received special recognition for her self choreographed pieces. While a student at Oliver Ames High School Serena further developed her musicality as a member of Charlene Dalrymple’s Concert Choir and as a saxophone player in the show band under the direction of Jeffrey Benson. Presently her music interests focus on digital audio editing. In her free time Serena enjoys yoga and thinks it is a great way to relax and maintain flexibility. Serena is committed to becoming the best dancer she can possibly be and would like to help others to do the same. Serena is very excited to share her passion for dance at Ballroom in Boston.
