Zohra grew up in Cambridge and first tried out ballroom dance as a unit in her fifth grade gym class. Where usually girls and boys at that age separated and made fun of each other, ballroom forced the students to talk to and respect each other. At the end of the gym unit, there was a competition against other students from nearby schools. Zohra was very scared and didn’t win. The next year, she also didn’t win. Ever since then, Zohra has chased down opportunities to learn more about dance and conquer her fears. Zohra studies psychology at UMass Boston and considers dance both a therapy and an addiction.
